UFC early prelims, prelims and main card
Last reviewed
A UFC event is a single night of fights split into broadcast blocks. Knowing the blocks makes it much easier to tune in for the fights you care about.
The three blocks
Not every card uses all three blocks, and the number of fights in each block varies from event to event.
- Early prelims: the first bouts of the night, often featuring newer fighters.
- Prelims: the next group of preliminary bouts, usually with more established names.
- Main card: the featured bouts, ending with the main event (and often a co-main event before it).
Why the main event starts “late”
Block start times are fixed in advance, but each bout lasts anywhere from a few seconds to the full scheduled rounds. The main event begins only after the fights before it finish, so it usually starts well after the main card’s listed time. Walkouts and introductions add more time.
Late changes
Injuries, missed weight and replacement opponents can change a card in the final days, and occasionally on fight night. SportSurge displays the card as the provider currently lists it.
On SportSurge
Providers either publish one broadcast for the whole event or one per block. Either way, each entry opens its own watch page, and times are shown in your local time zone.
